My personal blog? No. I'm from Romania (so you can use google translate to read it, hehehe). I think it's a php file, have some dynamic stuff (twitter, hi5, myspace, wordpress and few other spiders that grab data off my accounts and display it nicely) written there but i just disabled them because i wanted something uncluttered. I hope this year i can get around to do a rewrite, i have some new ideas of how to make some clouds seem like they are moving using an optical illusion and a few images.

One other reason i didn't think it's the WPDB plugin giving a headache (but i forgot to mention because i had a splitting headache at the time) is that we run a 2-day automated simulation on 30 blogs with a lot of themes and plugins that went like this:
- install a blog
- set theme
- save all pages
- install plugins in random order (from 10 to 100, randomly selected)
- read all pages, compare them with the normal ones
- if any changes, mark for human review

Just found out it's still running silently in the background (we forgot to turn the pc off).

When i upgrade my own blog i use a local copy on a wamp server, run it there and see if it's ok. Got my blog messed up one time too many using auto-update (too many plugins don't check for things before they use them).

Vlad, is your blog India? Pretty Cool looking, I like the way you have the front page that leads into your blog, is that merely a html file?

Thanks for getting back at me Vlad.

I used the auto update feature in WordPress 2.7, but I have resolved the issue by removing conflicting plug-ins.

Sort of difficult to determine where the breakdown occurred there was no major harm done, only the template was affected and once the conflicting plugs-in were removed everything restored into the proper formatting.

I tested out a few more templates other than our modified Tokyo Nights version and found the same issue was occurring with other templates that use a left and right column.

I ended up removing about 5 plug-ins overall. If you don't get anymore comments like ours, then wouldn't worry about it.

One other plug-in was updated at the same time called Minipost which I ended up removing altogether, didn't really need it.

There do not seem to be any current conflicts with WPDB at this time.

Thanks for the follow-up

Was it WPB plugin that did the damage or the function that auto-updates stuff in wordpress?

I doubt it was the WPB plugin since it only writes 5 options and those are prefixed with wpbdc, same as the plugin functions - prefix chosen to not collide with any other plugin.

It also doesn't write anything to the database or filesistem so it's the least intrusive as we could do it.

Worst case scenario: it erros out, gets disabled or deleted and life goes on.

If it was an auto-update plugin, i feel your pain. Got my blog wiped out four times like that. That was the reason for this. I lock backups once every few days or important posts and don't care.

In both casses i'm willing to have a look at the blog and see what happened.

The auto-update that we just used to update to the newest version of WordPressBackup wide out the left column of our blog.

Better do a back up before installing, how ironic.
